HYDRO

Final Year Project

Hydro is a biomimicry-inspired river filtration and waste collection device aimed at reducing urban river pollution in Malaysia. It targets chemical contamination and solid waste while adapting to various riverbank conditions and tidal flows.

Key Highlights:

Problem Addressed: Urbanization has significantly worsened river pollution in Malaysia, affecting biodiversity, water quality, and public health.

Design Objective: Develop an eco-conscious, low-maintenance system that fits different river environments and supports easy waste separation.

Inspiration: Nature-driven—drawing from aquatic life such as stingrays, octopuses, and shells to guide form, functionality, and movement.

Key Features:
  • Modular filtering system for the types of debris
  • Compatibility with varying tide levels and urban riverbanks
  • Easy-to-maintain design with consideration for community deployment

HEXA

HEXA is a pet-friendly gazebo concept developed as a group project under the theme of Universal Design. Designed to foster a more inclusive and comfortable shared space for both humans and animals, HEXA reimagines traditional public seating structures to be more accessible, accommodating, and sustainable.

Born out of extensive field research and observation at recreational parks, HEXA addresses the lack of pet-centric features in current gazebos. Our team collaborated to create a structure that not only prioritizes human needs—such as seating and shelter—but also considers the comfort, safety, and hygiene of pets.

With a hexagonal layout inspired by balance and modularity, HEXA merges functionality and empathy. It stands as a subtle expression of gratitude towards our animal companions, offering a thoughtful space where people and pets can enjoy moments of rest and bonding.

Kanjo

Kanjo is an educational puzzle board designed to help children identify, understand, and express their emotions through interactive play. Rooted in the philosophy of “no shame in learning,” this project addresses the lack of emotional education during early childhood development. The product blends form and function with inspiration from modernist design principles, especially those of Bauhaus and Marcel Breuer. By combining geometric aesthetics with psychological insights, Kanjo encourages emotional intelligence in a fun, tactile, and age-appropriate way.

Kanjo transforms emotional learning into a hands-on activity, enabling children to piece together emotional expressions and scenarios like a puzzle—promoting discussion, empathy, and mental growth through design.
